Are PC games that were initially on PS3/XBox 360 usually a "console port" (without enhancements)?

…or do they take advantage of the newer "amped-up" PC/video card features, etc?

I was looking at a few PC games that I’ve played before on a console (including GTA IV). I’d like to play them again if they look better with my new amped-up PC… Happen to know if GTA IV looks better on PC (or is it just a "port")?

You bet, my friend. PC is still the best gaming machine, even PS3 and 360 are no match in terms of graphics, providing you have a high-end PC of course..As far as I know, even a console port will look significantly better on PC with higher resolution, AA, AF, PhysX, etc. Just try CoD: MW2, Bioshock 2, Resident Evil 5, and most modern multiplatform games, the difference is obvious: those games played in PC in high or maxed settings will look better than its console counterparts
