How is PS3 games on a PS2 console possible?

okay so like my friend was saying its possible so i told him to prove it and then we went to his house and on his ps2(mod chipped) he put in a dual layer dvd-r and sure enough Grand Theft Auto 4 started. I couldnt believe my eyes and when i asked him how he did it he said dont worry about it. i really wanna do it to mine but he said no i have a modded ps2 and when i copied my version of GTA 4 and burned it to dual layer dvd it didnt work

It's not possible, your friend was either full of it or putting you on. My guess is he used a video capture card to record the start of gta4, then burned it to a dvd-r, then put that into his ps2. A ps2 can read video from a dvd-r, so it would just give the illusion of starting up gta4.

Besides that, it couldn't have been the ps3 version of gta4, because that wouldn't fit even on a dual-layer dvd. Neither would the xbox version, actually, there is compressed data that has to be installed to hard drive.

There is no way it's gonna work, your friend was either playing a joke on you or fooling himself. Probably a joke, I don't think anyone would seriously think the ps2's cpu could handle gta4.

Maybe!!!<<<< he modded the dvd player like a xbox 360 not ps3 coz if ps3 it should be blu-ray which is not possible but still how does the graphical performance work? he's tricking you!!!!! its not possible besides the engine of 360 aqnd ps3 only one performs better at gta 4 i don't believe it TOO!!!!
