I just bought a PS3 game but it won’t work - “cannot play game with current video output setting”?
I just received my GTA IV today that I bought off eBay from a seller from Hong Kong. I own a PlayStation 3. Now when I put my game to play it in the PS3, it says "Cannot play game with current video output setting".
I have no idea what my TV settings and resolution are. I know the connector is those 3 cables(red, white, yellow). My game is PAL and I bought my PS3 in Canada(I live there). It requires 720p/1080i/1080p. Honestly I have no idea what that means and have no idea what my TV is. I think it's 480i. What do I do? Do I need to buy another TV? I hope not! If so, what settings?
Also, if I have to edit any settings, please give me a step-by-step.
Resetting the PS3 didn't help.

try these steps:
1 switch on the power switch back of ps3 and hold on reset button until you hear double beep. it resets the video output settings.
2 you might need a NTSC tv that which supports your PS3 region.
Note:
your ps3 game(region free) may work on any ps3(NTSC/PAL/SECAM) but not TVs. always remember whether a dvd player or an console whatever that produces still images or video must match with the TV itself. since tv receives the video signals that are manufactured by the player's region. so they both should match to gets things started. next time be aware before you buy things !

Turn off your PS3. Now turn it back on and continue to hold the power until you hear a second beep. Try that.
you system is set NTSC if the game is PAL then it wants to output video at a signal you ps3 is not set to use. you can not play it on your system. never buy something electronic from hong kong on ebay. a lesson you learned the hard way.
id buy a new tv because right now you have a terrible set-up
