Is it a good thing to use a wireless router?

i got a ps3 and i play online. But sometimes some particular games lagg during gameplay. like gta iv. I want to buy a wireless router, but does the wireless router does good things? like reduce the chance of lagg, faster download speed etc etc…and does it matter which one i buy?? or are the cheap ones like really crap and dont help at all, or are they all the same. If they are different, could you recommend one that is below $100 and really good plz. thx!
Oh i got 3 mobile broadband. its just like a usb but you plug it into a usb port then you have the program installed in your computer, you open it and connect to the internet. It works like a dial-up. But the way ps3 works with it is i enable everyone to use the 3 mobile broadband network thorough anything from control panel. Then i plug in the ps3 ethernet cable to the LAN port into the ps3 at the back and the other end in the Pc LAN port. If a wireless router is a bd idea could you plz recommend something else.
and my ps3 is only like 1 meter away from my comp

I hate to tell you this, but wireless will actually slow you down a little more, depending on how far away your PS3 is from your wireless router.

If you are already connected to a wired router you cannot get a faster internet connection. The lag you are getting is because of the connection through your internet service provider or someone on the other end. A wireless router generally has a slower transfer rate than a wired router, not that it makes a difference for the internet. The internet is running slower than the oldest 10base T router anyway. Of course you have not said much about your internet connection so for all I know you could be on dialup. Getting DSL or cable internet would definitely be an improvement over dialip.
