is it possible to make my ps3 have backwards compability?
Also im not sure about any good games to buy on my ps3, i have gta IV, gt 5 prologue and heavenly sword. any suggestions would be great, thanks
its strange… i loved my ps2 having ps1 compability, as i had so many gear games on ps1… BUT i bought my ps3 to play my ps2 games on it and buy a few ps3 games here and there… now im thinking about switching to a 360
i have a ps2 sitting here right infront of me, only thing is i dont wanna pay $30 for a new friggen controller (as im only 15) so heres an idea, sence the cord that charges the wireless ps3 controller is USB and the ps2 has USB ports….. ya'll see where im going?
As far as I can tell, if you have the 80gb "Core Pack" you will not have any backwards compatibility with the PS2. You will, however, be able to play PS1 games on it, I think.
Both the 20gb and 40gb systems at launch had compatibility for both, but I suspect they found that not many people used it all that often, due to the fact that most people who have PS2 games would either have a PS2 to play them or just play PS3 games.
This is one area that the 360 is superior in, but I guess it makes sense that the PS3 wouldn't need to be, considering the fact that PS2's don't really break down over time in the same way that XBOXs do. As of now, there is no software update for them to be backwards compatible. I'd say just dust off your PS2 or buy one if you really need to play those games.

what the hell are they doing now with your playstation that it cant play ps2 games, that sounds like a bad business idea to me
first of all there is no such software which can make your ps3 backwards compatible neither is there any backward compatible ps3 till date(maybe sony is planning to make one).There are a hell lot of games out there such as prince of persia, burnout paradise, midnight club los angeles, fallout 3(game of the year 2008), metal gear solid 4, little big planet and hundreds more……for an appropriate view go to ign.com the best games related site!!!
well i have the same problem like yours….Check my past questions…one of them helped…. only some Ps2 games can work… and Pirated also cant work so it must be an original game… if ur really deperate go and download a ps2 game and add it to ur ps3… it wont hurt if you try
