PS3, 60GB: Infamous, GTA 4, Fifa 09 freeze? Why? How to fix?
I have a PS#, 60GB, it is legit and works for most games.
Infamous, GTA 4, and FIFA 09 freezes within 5 minutes of the game.
I tried all the options that Take-Two suggested in this link:
Please run through the following, go through in order.
1) Delete the game’s install data.
2) Delete the game’s save files.
3) Disable your Internet connectivity for the PS3.
4) Disable the console’s information board.
5) Disable Media Server functionality.
6) Delete all of the system’s Internet cache.
7 ) Turn off the PS3 screen saver.
8 ) Once this has been done, manually restart you PS3 by holding down the power button for 5 seconds it will beep once and then shut down.
Now that I think about it, I think it might be the "auto-save" option, or it could be that those games are "special." Please help.
You didn’t mention the part number… if it’s CECHA01 with the 4 USB ports in front it is know to have issues with GTA, Infamous and a couple other games. If it plays other games okay I wouldn’t suspect the console… there are tons of posts out there with people having the same issues with these launch consoles… but people want them because they are backward compatible. Eventually they will get the patches right for the games not working. Just some things to try… Do you have the PS3 flat or on the side? I think on the side works better?? Did you get a cooling fan? Sometimes that helps.
Did you do the following -
Once the game has started please turn off the following features:
1) The game’s auto-save. Press Start, Game, and locate the Auto-save option. Turn this off.
2) Turn off the game’s flicker filter. Press Start, Display and locate the Flicker Filter option. Turn this off.
3) Turn off the controller vibration feature. Press Start, Controls and locate the vibration option. Turn this off.
