PS3 Help…..!!!! Can’t play GTA IV & GT 5 Prologue….?

I bought my ps3 from lahore hall road… it is the japanese version…. I recently bought gt 5 prologue and when i put it in and click the disc logo, an error pops up saying ‘You cannot play this game at the current video output settings’… I have an sd-tv… does this mean that you cannot play games without an hd-tv.. plz help…. the shopman said that the ps3 is region free but still i can’t play the game… Same problem with GTA IV… Why am I wasting my money if I cant play the games…..

I had the same problem with GTA IV. My PS3 is from US, I’m from Russia. I couldn’t do anything (even contacted R*). Later I got HDTV and this took care of this issue. 99% of PS3 games are region free on SDTV, 100% - on HDTV.

Where do you live? Are the games PAL versions?

You can see these PAL versions of the game will have issues on an NTSC PS3 like yours and SD video which you are using.

You can try changing the screen ratio. I hear this fixes this issue sometimes.

If they are PAL games, sorry you had to find out the hard way that the region free theory is somewhat misleading. For what its worth, many of the newer games appear to be region free.
