Stay right there man. Let me get my answer. here it is:
Let me put it to you this way. The Xbox 360 is like a Mansion(A big big house). The PS3 is like, how do you say it, a billionare Mansion that is problably 4,000 acres. Which would you want to have. I'll tell you some good reasons about getting which of them.
Xbox 360: It's so far the top system "for now". The 360 has more games then any of the systems and the Xbox Live is the best of online. 360 can play DVDs, and multi-media. It has USB ports. While you play your game you can also listen to music. You can check other live accounts. Play games that they made( in a game. like Halo3- the forge) Thus the 360 stands out as the top system but here are the bad things.
The Xbox 360 is not reliable. It has a 33% of a hardware failure. So be ready for a Red Ring of Death. When you enter a store you will problably get one of these systems with a hardware failure. You would be worried to get the 360 from a store. And if your 360 does get the Red Ring of Death, you can send it to Microsoft and they'll repair it for free. "Oh Yea" no problem. YES PROBLEM. Your 360 may be out for weeks or even months before it can be returned. Also whats with the lack of HD-DVD. PS3 has blu-ray. Plus the 360 is out-dated. It came like when, 3 years ago. And whats up with the over-heating. It was so hot I felt like to turn it off or something bad would happen. Also it tends to be loud. Plus, whats up with buying all these accessories. In all it would then cost over $500 just to play online and watch HD-DVD movies, and to get a fan with it. Thats the cons. Now lets talk about the PS3.
PS3: PS3 is a nice next-generation system. It supports regular DVD and Blu-ray. It has a wireless controller like the 360, but its more lighter than the 360. It may be pretty heavy but than if you actually drop it it would still work. It looks nice. The games are awesome and this year the PS3 will beat 360's games. They are getting like 15 exclusives. And also in on June 12th, the PS3 will be bundled with an 80 gb PS3, a Dualshock 3 controller, and a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4. So many good titles and titles we the people know. Oh and if your a Jak and Daxter fan, did you know that naughty dog is making a new Jak and Daxter game. I know it will come for PS3. Plus, this month Playstation Home comes out, a virtual place where friends and other users can talk, hang out, watch trailers, play demos, and much more. Your own character can look exactly like you. PS3 has free internet access, unlike the 360. It doesnt need any accessories to buy. It can do multi-media also like the 360. I really think the PS3 has better graphics than the 360. You can also use your PSP to control it. Oh and the failure rate for the PS3 is 0.2%. Now about the cons.
While this system is the pure choice, its not the choice for gamers yet . Developers needed time to get used to the system using its high tech power. Thats why the PS3 has less games. It'll get games as much as the 360 soon. Another thing is that the 40 gb which is the cheapest one doesnt have backwards compatibility. What gives? Shouldn't every system have this? The Playstation Network is not as great as Xbox Live, but I bet when Home comes out it'll get better. I think its also a little expensive, but not that much. Both systems should have been $50 less. There are not as many cons as the 360, and the reason was because the PS3 was developed carefully and smart. They even built a fan inside the system itself. Sony's getting good.
Well thats what I had. Thats all I know. Must of the exclusive games coming for the Xbox 360 (other than Gears of War 2) will be on the PS3. Thats funny. But then does that even mean there exclusive. I dont know but if there not hehehe. Microsoft you have a lot of work to do. If I had to pick which of these systems to get I would pick the Playstation 3 mainly because of the high tech power of it, and the games that are coming out. Oh wait. Thats everything then. Well if you do want a 360 get it, but be careful, and I dont know if this is true but what if Microsoft is creating another system. I mean it has been out for a long time. I also read that the PS3 will be out for another 7-10 years. I hope im not trying to persuade you. I just wanna answer the question. Both of them are good. It's your choice, not mine.
Anyway, if anyone tells you one of these consoles sucks, then ignore the reply because, both are GREAT consoles. 
And don't listen to the fanboys (especially those with LONG lists of reasons or those who think specs shows which is better ;)), since they will try to convince you that the 360 or PS3 is better or worse, often by using lies, exaggeration and uninformed opinions to support their personal views.
Both the 360 and PS3 have their advantages and disadvantages and are of _similar_ power (as confirmed by devs who create games for both consoles, and from multi-format games), with the PS3 potentially having a slight edge overall, especially for exclusive games.

I got these games coming out this year in wikipedia, but PS3 does have more games this year and next. Dont think I was on PS3 side. Last year 360 had more. This year all developers spent at least 3 years making titles and decided to all release it this year.
So what's my verdict on which console you should buy?
BUY A CONSOLE BASED UPON THE GAMES YOU WANT TO PLAY, not based upon what certain people say or think. That's the most important thing. So see what's on offer for the PS3, see what's on offer for the 360, both exclusive and multi-format games, and make up your mind based upon the console that has the games which appeals to YOU the most.
Also, if you can, find a friend who is a fan of the PS3 and another who is a fan of the 360, and let them 'sell' the console to you, hopefully by showing you some of the best games available and allowing you to play them. And once again, don't allow them to make up your mind for you…. do it yourself based upon what you've seen and experienced.
Good luck on your choice, but you'll be happy with either console.

Also think about have you played Ratchet and Clank, Metal Gear Solid, Jak and Daxter, God of War , Kingdom Hearts, and others. If you have followed the series you may want a PS3. And think if you have followed the Halo series, or any other game on xbox.

PS3! PS3! all the way. all the traditional style from playstation and just classic as always! online play is pretty imense as well. plus no extra online costs unlike the 360
I don't know about costs but we have both and it's awesome cos you don't have to wait for games to come out on one or the other … you can get them as soon as possible. And you don't miss out on games at all.
hard to pick they are both great console but i would pick 360 just because online is better imo

Well Having owned all 3 consoles of this generation(wii,360,ps3), i would say get the 360. Its got big library of games n very good ones…..the only reason for u to get ps3 wud be mgs4 but on 360 u got gears of war2 n halo series.Also comparitively, 360's got better graphics n a comfortable controller.
Depending on what you like, you should go for it.
But from my experince, 360 is the best. But for multimedia ps3 is better…but u wil need to have more than 80gb hard drive if ur gona play lots of games(n utilize its multimedia capabilities) cuz every game installs stuffs on ur hard drive.
both consoles are good and quite same both have photos,movies,internet,camera and games only difference is that ps3 has BLU-RAY and xbox 360 dosent

And like alot of other 360 they have a poor succes rate.
Mine was slow laggy and always got three red rings. My internet didnt work with it and it freezes.
Now ive got PS3 it works faster is alot quitter and is more user friendly than the xbox when accesing things
e.g Music, photos.
Halo 3 overated it not worth buying 360 just for one game .

- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p
- built in Wi-Fi ( not on 360)
- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure

- ps3 has better back-comp except the 40gb
- xbox 360 already has been maxed out to its potential with gears of war. ps3 has not been maxed out yet- look at uncharted drakes fortune, better graphics than gears and its only 30% of ps3’s potential
- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, Was not even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements.
Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:
1). A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.
2). PS3 has 7 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
3). PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 25 (single layer) and dual layer 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 50$. Besides, HD-DVD had lost the format war with Blu-ray. Toshiba had stopped to manufacture them, Microsoft too.

8). From the first technical sight - graphics are stronger in 360 (it has a stronger graphics chip - Xenos), BUT PS3 can use it's Cell CPU for graphics too, which gives you better graphics in total. PS3 uses a weaker RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. Xbox isn't that versatile in dividing tasks between CPU and GPU as PS3. That's why PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.
9). Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

11). PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
12). There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.
13). The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).
14). On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.
15). PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.
16).Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.
17).Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.
18). PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 is getting rumble controller (Dualshock 3) on 15.04.2008, Japan already has it. On http://www.ebay.com I saw those controllers on sale 50$ and up (unofficial import).
19).On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.
20).New 40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.
21). But, to be just, I'm not a PS3 fanboy, so (despite I own one) hear this - PS3 games (exclusives) are very hard to develop due to complicated Cell's architecture. We have to wait till developers will figure out how to develop games properly. Sometimes multiplatform games run not so good on PS3 due to the same developing issues - it's hard for developers to get a grip on such advanced technologies
