PS3 trouble:( , plz help. its not reading cds,dvds games! nothing?

it all started when i formatted my ps3 a couple of times, i even delete my game utility. i did this because gta iv worked on my ps3 for 2days then it just kept on freezing during the reinstallation. now nothing works… iv tried everything!!!
plzzzzzz help, (btw,i know the problem is just the dvd/game reader cos i download demos and they all work.)

and pls dont tell me to call the ps help line…i live in qatar… thankx

Ok this may be what you want to do. Since you said you dont want to call customer support and send it in you could try this. Now keep in mind if you don't feel up to opening up your PS3 then do NOT try this. It will void your warranty but will fix your problem. This used to happen to me with my ps2 all the time.
You may want to go out and pick up and eye-glass repair kit because some of the screws inside the unit are really small that only the small screwdriver in the repair kit will fit them. You will also need some rubbing alcohol and q-tips. Very carefully open up the PS3 and expose the laser. Wipe the laser with the q-tip dipped in the alcohol and allow it to dry then put it all back together. You should be all set. And for God's sake make sure it is unplugged and be careful! This isn't for the faint of heart.

oh yeh that happened to me as well! i had to call sony and explained my problem. They sent me a brand new one in 3 days and it all works fine now! they did it for free

But since you live in Qatar u should probably go to where you bought it or a local technology shop or games shop and ask for repairing there. Dont forget your warranty though if it hasnt run out!

sounds like the laser reader is dirty/damaged, you'll need to return it to get it fixed which they'll do free if you have a warranty still and its still valid

What - they don't have telephones in Qatar? Dude, you need to call the helpline, do not open up your PS3!! you will likely turn a small annoying problem, into the funeral of your PS3.
