The xbox 360 towel trick!!!?
Ok, i got the 3 red rings on the xbox, totally depressing. Anyways, we tried the removing the hard drive and all, shaking it, and just about everything but sending it in to microsoft and the towel trick, which actually sounds a lil bit tempting. Just got gta4 and wanna play it NOW!!! But since i been readin up on this towel thing, ive learned that it resolders soldering points with extreme heat. Well if it needs soldering, why not do it yourself instead of burning down your house with the towels and be without a house AND your xbox? Im really wanting to do the rag thing and get the show on the road you know what i mean? So what i need to know is, what are the extreme risks? We got this thing used from a pawn shop last year and had little problems since. (just the damn thing scratchin the hell outta my games when you move it.) Is the warranty there? will the fix this thing without it since it is their responsibility for designing a screwed system? Or should i tell em about the pawn shop? Just let me know about the towel trick. I plan on trying it TONIGHT when i get home. So, just fill me on the subject, thank you much!!!!

well the towel trick works but who told you about the soldering and re-soldering part? That is bullsh**. Just try the towel trick and it will work. Dont worry it wont catch on fire. I would first call microsoft and check if there is a warranty if there is, tell them the xbox has red rings and they will send you a box. Then do the towel trick and fix it. and play your xbox while microsoft sends the box for your xbox! If you get the red rings before the box arrives, do the towel trick again but if the box arrives and your xbox is working, wait till the xbox breaks again and then ship it.
man
sometimes it works but i could also demage Xbox even worse
u should call the company and let them know
u might be lucky and get free warranty
If it's got the red ring of death then it's unlikely it's still under warranty at this point. Microsoft extended the warranty by 1 year for free, for systems with this problem, but that was over 2 years ago I believe. By all means call and see if you can still get free service (don't tell them about the pawn shop; warranties are non-transferable) but if it's out of warranty, it'll cost you $99 to repair it.
If there's nothing you can do, you can try taking the thing apart and putting it back together. If that doesn't work, you can always buy a new Arcade model and swap in the old HD.
Do NOT try the "towel trick"
