What is the most important awards for game developers?

I know awards only are analysts [editiors from ign.com, gamespot.com, etc......] grading a game using certain critia, but like the movie industry which has the "Oscars" as the most imporant night and award which counts.

Does the gaming industry have a important award that game developers want to win?

Casue i know good actors want to win the "Oscars"

I mean "Golden Joystick" has GTA IV as Xbox 360's Game of the Year, MGS4 as the PS3 Game of the year and the ultimate Game of the Year was awarded to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare [which won because it had the online and multiplayer award]

Anyway then on GameSpot the Xbox 360 goes to GTA IV and the PS3 goes to MGS4 and on IGN the Xbox 360 Game of the Year goes goes to Fallout 3 and the PS3 goes to MGS4.

Which award has more meaning? Like a legit award that says "yes this game is really good"

the Spike VGA's are a big deal, but i think its more of an aggregate (or everybody's consensus) rating. so probably their Metacritic score.
