What XBox 360 peripherals are needed to play GTA4?
I'm buying Grand Theft Auto 4 for my husband's birthday. Will he need anything other than the game to get full game experience? He does not have microphone or type-pad or anything of the sort - just the XBox controller. If the game would be more enjoyable with a mic / headset, I will purchase it as well.
Edit: Yes, he has Xbox live. I don't know about the hard-drive thing though — thanks for the tip, I will check on that.

You need to have this peripheral on the xbox called " I'm gonna have a lot of fun". Some people don't have this. These people have no emotions and are called robots. I want chicken. I am getting the game too. Hopefully your husband doesnt spend a lot of time in front of the tv. I like cows

You don't have to get the mic, but it will allow him to experience the gaming a bit further for he can than communicate with others when he is online. As for the keypad, it isn't really necessary for any 360 games really.
regular controller is all he needs so you're good to go.
Does he have Xbox Live (online mode)? GTA4 announced that it will have online mode, so he can play other people around the world. If he doesn't have the mic, then he probably doesn't have Xbox Live, but I definitely recommend it. However, it is not necessary, because single-player mode is just as fun. Also, make sure he has a hard drive or memory card because I have heard that GTA4 will take up as much as 7 gb of space to play it.
EDIT
Since he does have Xbox Live, I really recommend you get him the mic then, since this will allow him to talk to other people while he is playing. The keypad is really just for sending basic messages over Xbox Live and is not needed for the actual game, so I don't recommend it.
As for the hard drive, does it have a bulge or hump sticking out of the 360 on the top (when the console is vertical) or on the left side (when the console is horizontal)? If yes, then he does have the hard drive. Also, if he has saved other games on his 360 before (you could just aks him this), then he would have a hard drive.
I agree, all you really need is the console, controller and the game. The headset would be helpful for multiplayer, I think its entertaining to listen to other people
You don't need to get anything else.
If he plans on playing online, you might want to get him a headset so he can communicate with other players. If doesn't already have an XBL gold membership, get that for him so he can play with other people online, if he wants to play online.
