Why is my PS3 not broadcasting in 1080i/p?
-plugged in my HDMI cable with the AV cord still attatched
-Set the settings to HDMI and checked all of the boxes (720, 1080i, 1080p), unplugged the AV cable and played madden 09 (only in 720p)
-Got an itch to see what 1080 was like - put in GTA 4 (still in 720) and then assassins creed (still in 720!!!!!!) - Both games are supposed to be in 1080i.
What did i do wrong/what can i do to make this work!?
Thanks in advance
It is connected to the internet wirelessly through my cable ROUTER
I've manually set the thing to accept all of the picture settings (1080i/p, and 720p)
it just doesn't want to broadcast any higher than 720p - and when i uncheck the 720, then forget it's unchecked and put in a game that is in 720 (madden!?), i have to quit out and check it because the graphics jump
ughh.. pain in the ass sony
It is because the PS3 will keep using the same video setting it first detected until you force it to auto-detect on a different TV with different video mode. So for example the first TV you ever plugged it in to was 720, then you move the unit and hook up to a 1080i/p doesn't matter. The PS3 won't switch mode by itself unless you hold down the power button for like 5-10 seconds until you hear a couple of beeps. Don't let go until you hear the beeps. That will force it to reset and auto-detect and start using the new mode.
I don't think putting in different more advanced games would make any difference. Be sure you hold down the power button until you hear the beeps and they stop. Screen should flash, and it will adapt to what it thinks is the resolution of your TV. If that doesn't do it, then maybe your TV is funky and is sending the PS3 confusing mode signals?
Good luck!
