Xbox360 shuts down during GTA4?
I bought GTA4 for my xbox 360 and the game shuts the system down after a few minutes of play. the 2 red lights on the side of the power button flash. Xbox says that the sytem is over heating as does Rockband, but the system does not do that with any other game. Also the system can be cold and this ahppens, and even when it is warm I can switch games and it stops and the other games play fine. I have heard I am not the only one with this problem. I tried exchanging the game but still have the problem.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

i had the same problem when guitar hero 2 first came out on the 360. i found out that the problem was the hard drive. i had to take it out, run the 360 without it for a minute, then put the hard drive back in, and restart the system. mine was just a hard drive failure. but it hadn't messed up since.

Sounds like your Xbox is starting to die. I would call up Xbox support and get ready to send it in for repairs.
I've heard that some xbox 360 machines have this problem. Fortunately mine doesn't. I doubt its an over heating problem unless you checked and noticed a difference? If so, why don't you try a cooler for your machine?
Sounds like the "red ring of death". My 360 does the same thing. Luckily microsoft has a three year warranty coverage on the "red ring of death", so go to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support and repair console button.
Dont really know what to tell you im suffuring from a problem right now as well i get a disk read error after 5-10min of play and the disc is in perfect condition.

Defiantly sounds like warning signals of the Ring of Death.
But your problem is that it is overheating, but hey, it'll come, it came for most of us!
It's quite awkward that your Xbox 360 overheats during GTA IV game-play. You may be playing it longer than Rockband because as they say, "Time flies when you're having fun!".
So see if you are playing it for a long time.
Anywho, I'd call up Microsoft and tell them whats happening.
